All things considered, there's a lot of content the game was supposed to have that's just out-and-out left on the cutting room floor or missing. It's one of those cases where they outright had more hubs planned and likely more levels or variants thereof, story beats that were skipped over and missing, the side characters as 'Amigos' being more freely playable instead of on a story basis, Super Sonic being playable outside of the true final boss, and so forth. And because SEGA rushed the game for a christmas release due to a deal with Microsoft, literally all of this was not implemented and had to be barely patched up for the loss of it all, complete with plenty of references and other things still lying around in the game (and shit like Sonic's action gauge always being filled and never being depleted simply because they couldn't get to it in time). Hell, the reason why most of the pre-rendered cutscenes look so awful compared to the intro/ending ones is because they were basically slopped together with in-game assets and borderline unfinished due to the rush and having no time to contact the studio they were working with for more. Recreating it almost 1:1 besides a few physics and graphical improvements as this Unity project is trying is impressive, but they can't actually and truly 'finish it' when they simply don't have the assets and content of what was missing. Pretty much the worst of any Sonic game, as far as I'm aware. My favorite Let's Play of it is this one.
